Preventative Medicine and Client Education
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Client Education programs have rewards for both pets and owners. Our programs include: Comprehensive physical exams, internal parasite testing/control, heartworm and flea control, allergy consultations, microchipping, vaccines, spay/neuter, dentistry, senior wellness, behavior consultations, nutrition consultations and blood testing for all life stages.
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. In an effort to stay progressive in providing your pet with the best preventative care possible, we use digital dental radiography to examine your pets teeth, tooth roots and bone below the gum line. Through this minimally invasive procedure, we are often able to find and treat diseased areas before they develop into painful lesions. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly – above and below the gum line. We polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Ongoing follow-up oral care at home is just as important in controlling plaque and tartar formation
We offer a wide variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Our surgical procedures are performed under general anesthesia and with sterile instruments and a sterile surgical field. Our surgery table and recovery kennels are heated for greater comfort. During surgery an ECG monitors heart rate, a pulse oximeter monitors oxygen and pulse and a pressure cuff is placed on the leg to monitor blood pressure. All pets are pain scored and go home with additional pain medication as needed.
We cover all areas of Medicine, including: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Endocrinology, Dermatology and Ophthalmology, among others.
We have designed a Senior Wellness Program that includes: physical examination, glaucoma screening, blood work and urinalysis and client education materials, all focused on health care for the geriatric pet. The early detection and treatment of medical problems together with the recognition and prevention of disease risk factors can result in many additional years of quality life for your pet. Working together, we can help ensure our loyal friends enjoy the longest and healthiest life possible.
We believe that pets need special, individualized nutritional care to thrive and be well. Dogs and cats have specific nutritional needs and the needs of individual pets will vary. Poor nutrition can directly cause many health problems pets suffer-allergies, obesity, unhealthy skin and coats, urinary issues and chronic ear infections to name a few. We carry a variety of prescription and nonprescription foods to fit your pet's needs. With the proper nutrition and care, our pets can live longer and happier lives.
Pet owners can often become frustrated and discouraged by their pet's unacceptable behavior. Improperly dealing with a pet's behavior problem can make the situation worse. However, many of these problems can be managed or even avoided given proper information.
